Fillings

If you have cavities or decay, our team may recommend a dental filling. Initially, we will identify and remove the decay from the affected tooth. Next, we will apply a bonding solution and fill the area with a composite filling material. Further, our dentist will use a high-intensity blue light to harden the filling quickly. Lastly, we will also ensure that the filling shape is well adjusted with your bite.

Crowns and Bridges

Has your tooth chipped, discolored or broke due to decay or an accident? Maybe your tooth had a root canal done and it needs a crown.

Often referred to as a "cap," a crown is a modern way to encapsulate and thereby strengthen deteriorated or weak teeth. Various materials can be used to fabricate a crown such as traditional gold alloy which offers great strength. More modern materials like all ceramic Zirconia combine both strength and natural beauty. At the Pas Dental, let your knowledgeable and experienced dentists help you decide how best to protect your teeth with crowns.

A bridge may be a great way to replace that missing tooth.

A bridge is an artificial tooth that fills a missing tooth gap by attaching itself to the two healthy teeth on either side of the gap. Bridges also have the advantage of not having to be removed so they can become a semi-permanent part of your smile.

Today, many materials and techniques are available to make strong, long-lasting, and natural-looking bridges. It's never too late to replace a missing tooth so have our caring dentists at The Pas Dental show you how a bridge might help!

Tooth Extractions

At The Pas Dental, we always place a priority and focus on saving your teeth.

Sometimes, an extraction may be necessary due to irreparable damage that it left untreated, could lead to infection or damage of surrounding tissues. Removing your tooth need not be a worry as an experienced dentist will focus their efforts on performing this procedure in a comfortable and friendly manner. After the tooth has been removed, we will show you how to take care of the extraction site and give you our contact information so that your healing will be as uneventful as possible. After you have healed from the extraction, we can present you a myriad of options to fill the gap. Dental bridges, implants, and dentures are excellent choices for tooth replacement and are readily available at The Pas Dental.

Sports Guards

During athletic and recreational activities, it is advisable to wear a sports guard to protect your teeth from damage. Wearing a mouth guard can prevent serious injuries like broken teeth and jaw fractures. Many types of sports guards exist. Over the counter guards are readily available and affordable but provide the least protection. Being pre-formed and only boil-and-bite they can be loose, ill-fitting, and interfere with speech and breathing. Custom made mouth guards provide the best fit, bite, comfort, and safety.

Bruxism Guards

The term bruxism refers to teeth grinding, which is done consciously or unconsciously during the day, or when you are sleeping. This may affect your teeth and overall structure, including your head. Our dentists can provide you with customized protection for the enamel. We will take the impressions and send it to our lab. Within one or two weeks, you can collect your bruxism guard from our clinic.

Root Canals

Root canals can be a very effective way to save a tooth that is heavily decayed or in pain.

Most of our patients compare getting a root canal as to getting a filling done just maybe it took a bit longer. In fact, we routinely have patients that fall asleep while the root canal is being performed as they well, find it boring and uneventful. Luckily, modern technology has included advancements in getting your tooth numb to a more profound degree than ever before so that at The Pas Dental we can make sure our patients are as comfortable as possible.

After completing your root canal your tooth may benefit from having a crown or new filling placed. We will happily discuss with you what extra protection your tooth may need.

Dentures

Dentures are removable dental appliances that are used to replace any number of missing teeth. They are removable meaning they can be removed by yourself without the help of a dentist. Dentures are invaluable in replacing missing teeth. If all of your teeth in an arch are lost a complete full denture can be made for you. Partial dentures anchor onto existing teeth and fill the spaces where teeth have been lost.

Both types of dentures restore your mouth, enabling you to speak clearly, chew your food effectively and improve your overall appearance and both types of dentures are available from our dentists at The Pas Dental.

Dental Implants

One of the most important advancements in modern dentistry involve the field of dental implants. Designed to replace missing teeth without having to touch pristine healthy teeth adjacent to an empty space, they have become the choice of many patients to replace a missing tooth. There are three parts to a dental implant: the titanium implant which fuses with the jawbone over time, the abutment that protrudes out of the gum line, and the crown which is the natural looking tooth prosthesis that covers the abutment. All of these procedures can be done comfortably and our dentists at The Pas Dental will be happy to share with you on how dental implants can be safe and effective as an effective way of replacing missing teeth.

Hygiene Services (Scaling)

Proper and regular cleaning is the key factor to ensure oral health. You can visit our clinic for scaling, which will help remove plaque buildup. This is a common dental process for patients who are experiencing gum disease.

TMJ Therapy

Problems with TMJ (temporo-mandibular joint) are quite common and can cause considerable pain and discomfort if not treated. The TMJ is the joint that connects your lower jaw with your skull. It’s a very complex joint that has several muscles and tissue structures working together in concert to help you talk, chew and yawn pain-free. If you have discomfort and pain in this joint you could be suffering from TMD or temporo mandibular dysfunction.

The main symptoms that would indicate TMD are:

Pain in the jaw, neck, or shoulders

Clicking/popping of the jaw when opening or chewing

Difficulty opening the mouth or eating

Frequent headaches or migraines, particularly in the morning

   Earache

   Sensitive teeth

If you suspect you might be having TMD come into The Pas Dental and have a discussion with our dentists. We may be able to offer you treatment solutions such as a night guard that work to stop your teeth from biting together so that your muscles are able to relax and reduce the dysfunction the internal components of your TMJ may be suffering from. This combined with soft diet and mild physiotherapy often relieves most symptoms but more serious cases can be referred to a specialist.
